GEOCACHING
Hirundo has 14 geocaches hidden around the refuge waiting to be discovered! They're not just ordinary caches either, each one contains a small notecard that will teach you about the environment around you. Put on your boots, grab your GPS or phone and, come hunting! From time to time we'll hide vouchers for prizes to be redeemed within our caches, so just because you've found them once doesn't mean the fun is over!
What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is the world's largest treasure hunt! People across the world hide caches in all different types of settings, ranging from a hole in the wall to the middle of the woods. They place the geocache in a hidden spot and make up a set of clues that allow others to find it. Players (those searching for caches) then go out and try to find the caches! It's like a world wide treasure hunt that is designed specifically to get people out doors and in areas they might not otherwise explore. Go out and give it a try, you never know what you might find!

The series of geocaches hidden at Hirudno are educational and easy to find by design so that everyone from beginners to experts are encouraged to explore the refuge and improve their skills as naturalists!
HOW DO YOU GEOCACHE?
Use the app to navigate to a geocache nearby
OR
Enter GPS coordinates of any of the geocaches listed below into your GPS or Mapping app on your phone.
Every geocache at Hirundo contains a card that will teach you about the area where you found your cache stashed!
Once you find the geocache, sign and date the logbook inside. Place the geocache back where you found it and if you have a Geocaching account, rate your experience online.
