PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Are you passionate about providing educational programming to people of all ages and abilities?

The Program Director handles the day-to-day programmatic needs of the organization: design, develop, promote and often deliver or assist in delivery programs such as themed day camps for children, school field trips, guided hikes, paddles and snowshoe outings, outdoor skills clinics, and community gatherings. The Program Director will also serve as liaison for university students and faculty who wish to use Hirundo for research projects or to apply classroom learning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working in partnership with the Education + Program committee

  • Design, develop, promote, and deliver educational programing of a wide variety for many demographics

  •  Facilitate outdoor educational programs/visits operated by external organizations at Hirundo

  • Administrative tasks: Maintain internal and external calendars of annual programming, track attendee statistics, collect feedback from participants

 

Our Program Director has a bachelors (or higher) in an environmental science field, has experience creating educational materials or delivering programs for youth or adults, has strong written and oral communication skills, is highly organized and tech-friendly, is self-motivated, and has a passion for the great outdoors.

This Position is full-time and salary starts at $21/hour, or higher commensurate on experience.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH + DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

Are you passionate about raising awareness, developing community partnerships and recruiting support in order to help hirundo fulfill its mission?

The Community Outreach + Development Coordinator handles  fundraising, marketing, communications and outreach into the community. They are also responsible for recruiting volunteers and overseeing our site rental and equipment rental programs. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Working in partnership with the Development Committee

  • Community Outreach + Marketing: giving presentations to media + organizations, interfacing with Advisory Council, drafting advertising and marketing materials

  •  Fundraising and Income Streams including: business sponsorships, private donors, creative partnerships + events, grant work, shelter + site rentals, etc

  • Volunteer Management: recruit, track, and deploy volunteers to support the endeavors of other staff + departments

  • Oversee recreational equipment rental program

  • Administrative tasks including: checking mail and phone, depositing checks, database management, etc

 

Our Community Outreach + Development Coordinator has a bachelors (or higher), relevant experience in the non-profit sector, strong written and oral communication skills, is highly organized and tech-friendly, self-motivated, and has a passion for the great outdoors.

CAMP COUNSELOR

Are you passionate about nature and dedicated to making a positive impact on the next generation?

We are seeking enthusiastic and high-energy individuals to be leaders and educators for kids ages 8 to 14.

 

Hirundo hosts seasonal camps throughout the year, each featuring unique themes. Whether it's a week-long adventure in February or April, or one of the four separate weeks in the summer, every camp involves hiking, paddling, and exploring the wonders of nature.

Camp Dates: 

February Camp: February 20-23
April Camp: April 15 - 19
           Summer Camps:

Week 1: July 8 - 12

Week 2: July 15 - 19

Week 3: July 29.- August 02

Week 4: August 19 - August 23.


Apply for one or all Camps! Summer camp counselors must be available for all 4 summer weeks.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, prep and implementation of camp activities.

  • Supervision of day-to-day camp activities with youth.

  • Ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all campers.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Prior experience working with youth.

  • A genuine love for nature and comfort outdoors.

Pay: 
Hourly wage: $18/hr

Internship credit is available. (Check with your institution to ensure this opportunity meets any requirements.)
