Book your retreat, special event or meeting in the Parker Reed Shelter situated beside picturesque Lac d’Or. Immerse your family and friends in nature with a guided program or paddle, or explore our 7 miles of trails and beautiful river on your own. Less than thirty minutes from Bangor, come and explore the wonder that is Hirundo!

DETAILS

Location - Parker Reed Shelter , Gate 1

Our Parker Reed shelter is located just beyond the Pine parking lot on the shore of  Lac d’Or pond

  • The Parker Reed Shelter Includes:

    • Indoor space for 20 people

    • Indoor fireplace and gas heater

    • Small kitchen with cooktop and sink

    • Drinking water

    • 2 well maintained and private outhouses a short walk from the shelter

    • Two outside fire pits 

    • BBQ grill

    • Picnic tables

    • Unloading / loading area next to shelter

    • Parking for up to 30 a short walk from the shelter (Please keep in mind this parking area is also available to the public.)

  • Lac D'or features a small pier  (Please note- no swimming allowed)

  • 7 miles of marked trails over diverse ecological environments 

  • Complementary items to enhance your visit:​

    • Tree identification guides, Track identification guides, Pond life identification guides

    • Nature Scavenger Hunt and/or Bingo cards

    • Clear-bottom buckets for underwater viewing

$200 / 3 hours

  • Up to 20 people

  • Guided paddles

    • Join us for a beautiful scenic paddle along the idyllic Dead and Pushaw Streams. Hirundo will provide canoes, paddles, and life jackets. 

  • Naturalist guided trail walk or presentation 

    • $100 / hour for up to 10 people

    • $8 for each additional person

    • Immerse yourself in the extensive ecology of Hirundo with our Naturalist.

  • Hirundo Discovery Table Display - Interactive presentation with our Naturalist featuring hands-on itemms

    • $30 / hour

    • Choose from:​

      • Archaeology

      • Bones / Pellets / Tracks

Birthday Parties

BIRTHDAY AT THE SHELTER

Located at Gate 1, Parker Reed Shelter

$100 / 3 hours

  • Up to 10 children not including birthday child

  • $10 for each additional child

  • Use of Shelter, BBQ & picnic area

  • 45 minute activity or guided hike (optional, but complementary)

  • Hirundo T-shirt for the Birthday Child

  • Nature themed photo-op props

BIRTHDAY ON THE WATER

Located at Gate 3 & on Pushaw Stream

Inquire for pricing

  • Take the party on the water in our kayaks, canoes, or super-sized 23' war-canoe. Paddle with a guide, or use our equipment on your own (experienced paddling chaperones required)

  • Use of a pop-up tent (w/ table and chairs)

    • This location does not have BBQ grill, fire pits

    • 1 Porta-potty is available here.

  • Hirundo T-shirt for the Birthday Child

  • Nature themed photo-op props
